OMODA launches all-new C7 SUV in South Africa

OMODA South Africa is expanding its SUV lineup with the launch of the all-new OMODA C7, a stylish and modern model that slots between the affordable C5 X Series and the premium C9. Designed for drivers who want a mix of style, comfort, technology, and value, the C7 promises to be a strong contender in South Africa’s competitive SUV market.

From the outside, the C7 is designed to turn heads. Its X-shaped frameless grille, slim LED headlights, and red-painted brake calipers give the SUV a sporty, confident look. The sculpted body flows smoothly from front to back, while the 19-inch wheels (20-inch alloys on the hybrid model) enhance its athletic stance. Whether navigating city streets or cruising on the highway, the C7’s bold design ensures it won’t go unnoticed.

Under the hood, the petrol-powered C7 1.6 TGDI is equipped with a 1.6-litre turbocharged engine that produces 145 kW and 290 N.m of torque, paired with a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. This combination delivers responsive acceleration and an average fuel consumption of 7.5 L/100 km, making it both lively and efficient. For those seeking a more eco-friendly option, the C7 SHS plug-in hybrid combines a 1.5-litre turbo engine with an electric motor for a total output of 255 kW and 525 N.m. The hybrid version offers an all-electric range of 105 kmand a combined driving range of around 1,200 km. Charging is convenient, with a 30-80% charge in 20 minutes via a fast charger, or a full charge in about three hours on a standard home charger.

Inside, the C7 focuses on comfort and practicality. The 2,720 mm wheelbase provides ample legroom for both front and rear passengers, and the boot offers 614 litres of space in the petrol model and 537 litres in the hybrid, even with the second row in place. Both variants have a towing capacity of 1,250 kg, making them suitable for weekend trips or carrying lifestyle gear. The interior features black leather upholstery, electrically adjustable heated and ventilated seats, and a driver’s seat memory function. Standard dual-zone climate control keeps everyone comfortable, while the cabin’s minimalist design gives it a modern, upscale feel.

Technology plays a key role in the C7 experience. Drivers get an 8.88-inch digital instrument cluster that displays essential information at a glance, while a 15.6-inch infotainment screen integrates media, vehicle controls, and climate settings. Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Bluetooth, and a wireless charging pad ensure smartphones stay connected and powered. Pricing for the OMODA C7 starts at R539,900 for the 1.6 TGDI Luxury, with the 1.6 TGDI Elegance priced at R589,900, and the SHS plug-in hybrid at R689,900. The SUV will be available in South African showrooms from 11 November 2025.
