Isitha: The Enemy Comes to an End

After more than three years of drama, unexpected twists and memorable performances, e.tv’s popular telenovela Isitha: The Enemy is set to reach its final chapter.

The drama will officially come to an end on 23 April 2027, bringing an end to one of e.tv’s most prominent modern-day productions.

Since its debut, Isitha: The Enemy has kept viewers invested through stories centred on family, betrayal, ambition, power and survival. The series has also become an important part of e.tv’s drama history, particularly because it is the only legacy drama from the previous generation that remains on the channel.

The decision to conclude the show comes as e.tv prepares to enter a new era of storytelling and introduce fresh drama offerings to its audience.

The series has an interesting connection to The Black Door. Following the success of the original production, its world and characters were transformed into Isitha: The Enemy in 2023. The show later established its own identity and built a strong presence among South African television audiences.

Over the years, its contribution to the local television industry has also been recognised through major awards. The production has received recognition at the SAFTA (South African Film & Television Awards) and the Royalty Soapie Awards.

Among the categories in which it has received wins and recognition are Best Achievement in Original Music/Score – Telenovela, Best Achievement in Cinematography and Outstanding Light Direction.

Helga Palmer, Group Head of Content Development & Strategy at eMedia Investments, reflected on what the production has represented for the broadcaster and the local television industry.

With its final episode now set for April 2027, Isitha: The Enemy leaves behind a notable chapter in e.tv’s drama offering. For viewers who have followed the Sokhulu family and the many battles surrounding them, the announcement signals the beginning of the countdown to saying goodbye.
