Bonang Matheba recently took the stage at the Mail and Guardian 200 Young South African Summit, offering invaluable advice to aspiring young entrepreneurs. As a keynote speaker, Matheba emphasised the importance of starting one’s entrepreneurial journey without delay.
“You need to start. Whatever you do, you need to start,” Matheba urged. She highlighted the necessity of asking for help and being open to vulnerability, stressing that no one can succeed alone. “Surround yourself with people who are willing to impart knowledge, get mentors, travel the world, network, and show up,” she added.
Matheba also underscored the power of sharing skills on social media, noting that one never knows who might be watching. “Value time,” she advised, emphasising the importance of efficient time management in achieving success.
The Mail & Guardian, hosting its first-ever youth summit in 2024, aimed to bring together youth, corporate entities, government, civil society, and exhibitors. The event served as a platform for dreamers and doers, movers and shakers, trailblazers, and change-makers.
The summit’s objectives were clear: provide a platform for youth leaders to share ideas, inspire and empower their peers; foster partnerships and collaboration; support career development; amplify youth voices; equip youth with knowledge and opportunities; and drive positive social change led by dynamic young leaders.
The entrepreneurship session, brought to attendees by the NYDA, saw Matheba, founder of House of BNG and a prominent social media personality, as part of the panel. The event, held a few days ago, successfully gathered young visionaries and leaders, fostering an environment of inspiration and empowerment.
