Renowned actress Brenda Ngxoli has expressed heartfelt thanks to her fans and supporters after a viral video, which showed a tense argument between her and her mother, sparked widespread attention and compassion from South Africans.
In the video, which Brenda shared on social media, she is seen in a heated exchange with her mother, who accuses her of physical abuse. However, Brenda firmly denied the accusations, emphasising that she had never hit her mother. Despite the distressing nature of the altercation, the video quickly went viral, leading many to rally behind Brenda in her time of need.
Influencer Mandisi Tshingana played a pivotal role in supporting Brenda by starting a fundraising campaign to help her during this difficult period. As of now, over R100,000 has been raised, with half of the donations—R50,000—coming from Ferguson Films and the other half from generous fans across the country.
Brenda, widely recognised for her iconic role as Vuyo Radebe on SABC1’s Home Affairs, took to social media to express her deep gratitude to those who offered support. In an emotional video, she reflected on the new meaning the phrase “proof of life” had taken on for her.
“You did something I never expected. You showed me love and listened to me. I received calls from people I don’t even know,” Brenda shared, visibly moved. “I thank God, and I thank you all so much. It was never my intention to post this journey; it’s something I thought I would take to the grave with me, but I guess all wounds will be revealed one day.”
She continued, expressing surprise at the generosity: “I know I did not ask for money, but God knows I needed it. I won’t lie. I was sitting and wondering about my next plan, but you guys showed up. God works in mysterious ways, and I just want to thank every one of you for reminding me that I am a worthy human being.”
Brenda also made a point to thank Mandisi for his kindness, urging him to continue spreading that kindness to others in need.
