The 2025 Trace Awards, held on February 26 in Zanzibar, celebrated the incredible achievements of African artists, producers, and performers. The event brought together top stars from across the continent to showcase the growing influence of African music worldwide, with genres like Afrobeats, amapiano, and more taking center stage.

South African music sensation Makhadzi stood out once again, winning the Best Dancer award for her electrifying stage performances. She expressed her excitement on Instagram, saying, “Congratulations khadzinators GOD DID! YOU MADE IT FOR ME. BLESSINGS ON TOP OF BLESSINGS, we started our beautiful year with a BIG achievement. Thank you for your love and support. @traceawards thank you for making sure we shine like sunflower all the time. I traveled 9 hours to fetch it and I found it clean and beautiful.”

In other categories, South Africa’s Tyla was named Best Female Artist, a recognition for her unique style and global appeal. Meanwhile, Tyler ICU was awarded Best Artist (Southern Africa), cementing his status as a major force in the region’s music scene.
