‘We’ve Been Praising The Wrong Heroes,’ Black Twitter Reacts To ‘Winnie’ Documentary! A documentary titled ‘Winnie’ by French Director Pascale Lamche aired on ENCA Wednesday night and it has left social media abuzz and weeping.

Judging from the majority’s reactions, Mam Winnie was not celebrated enough and learning about what she went through and did for our country’s freedom after her death has left many people angry.

Here are some of the reactions that will give you chills.

It’s scary people are only finding out about the brutal propaganda machine against #Winnie now. The masterful media/communications exercise to bury her values/integrity could only work for a season.

Mandela was in jail with a meal everyday, fighting for long pants, while his young wife had to support his kids and liberate a whole country – dodging bullets. His multimillion estate excluded his ex wife. Her land in Qunu was also lost when when he cut matrimonial ties #Winnie pic.twitter.com/wn4j84MVWL

This documentary clearly reveals:

1. Mama Winnie was a revolutionary until the end.

2. Nelson Mandela is loved more by whites because he betrayed black people.

3. Desmond Tutu with a bible in his hand was more dangerous than a sinner who had alcohol in his hand.

#Winnie documentary is not only a sobering reminder that apartheid is not truly dead… but also that men are trash…
Don’t @ me.

“She was betrayed time and time again by people that she trusted who infiltrated themselves into her life…they were all paid informants” #Winnie

From what I understand, the ANC NEC gave Nelson Mandela two options:

1. Stay married to your wife and protect her. Be a struggle hero.

2. Divorce your wife, disassociate (throw her under the bus) and be a world icon. A Noble peace prize winner. #Winnie

Why is it truths are only shown when a person is gone…… why….Why is at the expense of tarnishing a person’s dignity while alive but want to restore it when dead…. #Winnie

— Refilwe Modiselle (@vanillablaq) April 11, 2018

#Winnie documentary should be compulsory viewing in History classroms across SA. Her narrative is missing from our curriculum

“If he (Mandela) could forgive other people for such terrible transgressions against him, his country and his family, he could have done that for #Winnie“
