The awards ceremony took place on Tuesday, 24 February 2026. The NAACP Image Awards celebrate outstanding achievements by people of colour in film, television, music, and literature, recognising artists who make a significant impact globally.

Is It, recorded by Tyla, was released on 11 July 2025 by FAX and Epic Records. The song has been a huge success, amassing over 76 million streams on Spotify, making it one of the most streamed African songs in recent times.

Fans took to social media to congratulate the star on her international success. @itskatlegochristopher wrote, “It’s not DNA it’s RSA. Congratulations Tyla you are an african popstar.” @glorybeto287 added, “She’s really winning international.” Another fan, @khubaps, shared their excitement, saying, “Tyla the multiple award winner!!!!!”

Earlier in February, Tyla also made headlines worldwide when she won a Grammy Award at the 2026 Grammy Awards. She received the award for Best African Music Performance for her hit single Push 2 Start. This ceremony, held on Sunday, 1 February 2026, marked Tyla’s second Grammy win, further cementing her status as one of Africa’s top music stars on the global stage.

With back-to-back wins at the Grammy Awards and the NAACP Image Awards, Tyla continues to shine as a powerful voice for African music and culture on the world stage. Her achievements show that South African artists are making waves internationally and inspiring fans across the globe.
