Tyla Makes History with “IS IT” – Breaks Streaming Record in Just 24 Hours

Grammy-winning singer Tyla has done it again! The 22-year-old music star just broke a major streaming record with her new single, “IS IT”, released on 11 July 2025.

In just 24 hours, the upbeat Amapiano-pop track reached 1,274,357 streams on Spotify. This is the biggest first-day debut of her career and makes her the first South African female artist to have a solo single debut with over one million streams in one day.

Tyla beat her own record. Her last hit, “Bliss”, which came out in May 2025, had 921,440 first-day streams. Even before that, her track “Art” from her debut album Tyla earned 763,794 streams on its first day. Now, with “IS IT”, Tyla holds the top three biggest solo debuts on Spotify by a South African woman.

But Spotify isn’t the only place where the song is doing well. On Apple Music South Africa, “IS IT” debuted at No. 6, tying with her global hit “Water” as her highest solo entry. And on iTunes South Africa, the track debuted at No. 1.

The music video for “IS IT” has already passed one million views on YouTube, and the song is trending on social media for its mix of Amapiano beats and pop melodies.

Many believe “IS IT” is the second single from Tyla’s upcoming summer mixtape called “WE WANNA PARTY”, which will feature more of her fun, danceable sound.
