South African pop star Tyla has once again taken the world by storm with the release of her new single “Chanel”, which dropped on Friday. The Grammy-winning artist, known globally for her smash hit “Water”, announced the song’s release on social media, marking another exciting moment in her fast-growing international career.

The catchy line, “How you say you love me? You ain’t put me in Chanel,” has already gone viral on TikTok and X, with fans using it as captions for videos celebrating self-love and luxury. The 23-year-old singer first teased the track back in July during a private listening event in Berlin, Germany. Although fans expected it to appear on her WWP (We Wanna Party) EP earlier this year, Tyla saved it for something more special—what she calls a “new era” in her music.

Blending her signature amapiano sound with pop and R&B influences, “Chanel” represents Tyla’s evolution as an artist. The music video captures her effortless style and creativity, moving between black-and-white and color scenes. In the video, the Johannesburg-born star wears a stunning vintage Chanel quilted bomber jacket and accessories from Karl Lagerfeld’s 1991 Fall-Winter collection, further proving her fashion icon status.

According to Billboard, Tyla celebrated the song’s release in true superstar style by hosting a “Put Her in Chanel” Brunch in Los Angeles, California. The event, held on Friday, October 24, was described as “for the girls”—a space filled with elegance, empowerment, and pure fun.

True to the song’s message, Tyla made sure everyone left feeling spoiled. Guests received Chanel compact mirrors that could be customized with engravings, and there was a bouquet bar where flowers were beautifully arranged in white paper “Chanel bags.”

During a champagne toast, Tyla told her guests, “I’m here to spoil the girls. I’m putting you all in Chanel today.” She wore an oversized white Chanel graphic tee paired with layered gold Chanel chain necklaces, perfectly matching the event’s theme.

She added, “This song’s very special. Not only is it about getting spoiled and getting treated like our worth, it’s also just a statement. It’s for the girls. We know our worth. We are who we are. We know what we bring to the table. So come to the table!”
