Twitter Not Happy With Petrol Attendant Nkosi Not Getting His R400k Crowdfunded In His Name! On the 30th of May 2019, Nkosikho, a petrol attendant became a good Samaritan for a stranded woman who had forgotten her bank card at home.
Being familiar with the area and not wanting the woman to be stuck, Nkosi paid R100 and asked her to return it whenever she could. The woman, Monet van Deventer did more than just return the R100. She started a crowdfunding campaign to help Nkosi who lives in Khayelitsha with his two kids, mom and brother. She set the goal amount at R100k but the money raise since is R 428k.
The story spread some positivity across all social media platforms and served as inspiration to randomly do good until the crowdfunding company revealed that the money would not be going into Nkosi’s personal account.
“NB: PLEASE NOTE Funds raised by this campaign will be administered by BackaBuddy NPC and transferred directly to the relevant institutions for Nkosi’s children’s education. Funds WILL NOT be paid into Nkosi’s PERSONAL BANK ACCOUNT,” the company announced on twitter.

Nkosikho has expressed sheer gratitude for the kind support he has received from the South African people and would like to remind everyone that all focus and praise should go to God who inspires all good deeds. https://t.co/MZU2oJiGBG

Nkosi has asked that the money is administered by Backabuddy for his safety as he does not live in a safe area. If you have any questions please email [email protected]

Needless to say that black twitter was not happy that Nkosi would not have a coin to spent for his personal needs. Check out some of the reactions below.
Y’all should’ve told people this before you started raising funds – So that they can get Nkosi’s details and send the money directly to him. Because this is all starting to sound shady. And I’m sure there are other things he would also like to use some of the money for. Smh. https://t.co/dVF4GRCYpJ

Nkosi is not a child.
Who fucken gave anyone the impression that he can’t handle his finances? Why must someone ‘handle’ how the money is used?
Give him the money! pic.twitter.com/wKg0ZAbJnq

Wait guys, what is this bullshit?
Can they please give Nkosi his money or give the money back to donors?
Nkosi is an adult, why is he being treated like an irresponsible minor? https://t.co/9BLo3C1FgR

I remember when there was crowdfunding for the white waitress who wasn’t tipped, it was unconditional for MoGhel.
Now Nkosi’s donations from kind strangers must come with terms?!👏🏾👏🏾 Is this not benevolent narcissism? Wowz

.I hope this is not a case of white folks wanting to supervise a Black man about what's rightfully due to him. Also, he now has to go through some rigmarole admin to access the cash but ya'll didn't sign shit when you got his R100. Has someone interviewed Nkosi?

The company later changed their statement saying Nkosi would now have full control of his funds.
Update: In response to your concerns, Nkosikho will have full control of how his funds are utilised. Based on his personal request, the relevant institutions (children's education and living and home expenses) will be paid directly by BackaBuddy #NkosikhoMbele #BackaBuddy
