In the latest episode of Trevor Noah’s hit podcast What Now with Trevor Noah, fans were treated to an honest, heartwarming, and funny conversation featuring two of South Africa’s favourite radio personalities – Anele Mdoda and Sizwe Dhlomo.
The chat took a special turn when Anele Mdoda, who recently had her traditional wedding to Bonelela “Buzza” James, opened up about married life and how much she’s enjoying this new chapter.
“I’m spoiled, I’m pampered, it’s nice. I do nothing, which is great,” Mdoda said happily. “They try to tell us women, you must cook, you must clean — no, none of that. The real marriage is that it’s the man that does everything.”
Mdoda shared how she’s found a partner who supports her fully and makes her feel safe. “It’s so nice to find a partner, like I’ve literally found an equal — like he’s my dude, he’s my guy. I feel so protected and safe and it’s just that entire thing. Also because he’s the one person in the world that I don’t have to convince to be on my side. He is automatically on my side.”
The conversation flowed naturally between friends, with fellow guest Sizwe Dhlomo adding some fun by joking about the possibility that he might be secretly married himself.
Trevor Noah, who usually asks the questions, found himself in the spotlight when he made a surprising confession — he has never been to a wedding before. He explained that his busy schedule and being “uninvited” due to his fame were part of the reason.
“I’ve never attended a wedding ever in my life,” he said. “A part of the reason I don’t attend weddings is because I work too much, and the other reason is that people don’t invite me to their weddings, or they uninvite me because I am me.”
With Mdoda’s white wedding coming up, Noah asked her what he should or shouldn’t do on the big day. “You’ll be fine, Trevor,” she laughed. “You’ve been to the Oscars and Grammys…”
Mdoda also shared her personal rule when it comes to weddings: “I have a hard rule that I do not take photos at weddings with people because it’s all about the couple, leave me out of it.”
The episode was a blend of love, laughter, and real friendship — giving listeners a fun and touching look into the personal lives of three well-loved South African media stars.
