There have been a lot of predictions leading up to awards season and amongst the nomination projections, our girl Thuso Mbedu was the on the list. Mbedu wowed the masses around the world in the Barry Jenkins directed limited series The Underground Railroad. Mbedu did an amazing job at playing the lead role of Cora and has even received praises from celebs including Oprah Winfrey Viola Davis and more.
Now that awards platforms are announcing the talented actors and productions that have been nominated for major awards, we are seeing that Thuso has bagged quite a few of them. The Critics Choice Awards have recently revealed the nominations and we are proud to announce that The Underground Railroad has bagged a total of three nods.
Taking to social media, Mbedu revealed that the Hollywood production has been nominated at the Critics Choice Awards in the Best Limited Series, Best Actress in a Limited Series or Movie Made for Television, and Best Supporting Actor in a Limited Series or Movie Made for Television! categories.
Our girl deserves a special shout out for securing a nomination for Best Actress in a Limited series Choice Awards and we couldn’t be more proud. Followers and celebrity friends have been flooding the post with congratulatory messages, sharing how proud they are of the actresses bold moves.

Awards have been pilling up foe the actress following her recent Gotham Award win. Thuso has won the Outstanding Performance Award In A New Series at the Gotham Awards and she tied with popular actor Ethan Hawk. The actress shared how humbled and encouraged she is by the win, and she is extremely proud of the whole production.
Thuso was also celebrated here in Mzansi at the GQ Men of the Year Awards which took place recently. Mbedu bagged a Woman of the Year award, and we think the title is very fitting. Thuso is a true inspirations for many South African’s and we can’t wait to see how else the actress further stakes her claim in the big Hollywood movie industry.
