South African media personality Somizi Mhlongo is taking his fashion empire to the next level by launching a brand-new shoe collection under his “Sompire” brand. The latest addition, called the Sompire Makhambule Range, is named in honour of his maternal grandmother.
Somizi excitedly shared the news on Instagram, expressing his pride and gratitude for this new chapter.
“Ladies and gentlemen, I present to you our new latest chapter—the SOMPIRE MAKHAMBULE RANGE, dedicated to my maternal grandmother. I’m so anxious, excited, and very proud of myself and my team for this leap. And thank you for supporting us this far and in advance as well. #unleashyoursole,” he wrote.
The shoe collection is now available for purchase online at www.sompire.shop, with prices set at R1,250 for adults and R750 for kids. Fans also have the option to preorder and collect their pairs at Sook Mall of Africa during the official launch on April 5th.

Somizi first launched Sompire Kids in August 2023 as a children’s fashion brand. However, due to its growing popularity, the brand expanded to include adult fashion, leading to the rebranding as Sompire.
Somizi believes that reinvention is the key to longevity in the entertainment and business world. His dedication to evolving his brand has certainly paid off, as Sompire Kids made a major international debut at New York Fashion Week in February 2025.
Reflecting on this milestone, he shared his excitement on Instagram:
“When @3apples_pictures_sa asked me to give them @sompire_kids merchandise for their New York trip, I thought, ‘Oh sweet, they just want to wear them during rehearsals or just in between their NEW YORK FASHION WEEK gig since they’re taking part in a few shows,’” he wrote.
“Little did I know, not expecting them to showcase my clothes on the big stage. What an honour. I’m beyond humbled and grateful for this opportunity. I’d like to thank all the models who trusted my brand on such a huge platform.”
With the Sompire Makhambule Range, Somizi continues to solidify his place in the fashion industry, proving that his creativity knows no bounds.
