SA Celebs React To The Permanent Closure Of The Ticketpro Dome. Many of Mzansi’s celebs have been left heartbroken after popular performance arena the Ticketpro Dome announced its closure. The Dome’s Instagram account explained that due to the effects of the pandemic, they have decided to sell the venue to a company that doesn’t host live events.

In the statement the RX Management company announced that after a twenty year run, they have decided to end the live events journey.

“It is with a heavy heart that RX Venue Management today announces that after 20 years of being the management company of South Africa’s largest multipurpose indoor arena, The Ticketpro Dome has now been sold by the owners, Sasol Pension Fund, to a third party which does not operate in the event space” they wrote.

They further shared that the closure of the arena is a devastating blow to the entertainment industry as they have hosted many local and international performers in the space. The arena is shutting its doors after the COVID-19 restrictions put a dent in the entertainment and live events industry. The selling of the property came as an unforeseen circumstance that the management had to take.

“The constant changes and severity of the Covid-19 restrictions have wreaked havoc amongst our stakeholders and across the supply chain. This has meant we were unable to change the outcome of Sasol Pension Fund decision to sell the venue due to a force majeure,” says Weaving. they said.

Many celebs have shared their heartbreak following the announcement of closure of the iconic space, dubbing it the end of an era as they have made many iconic memories during the two decades of operation. The Dome has hosted heavy weight events such as concerts for legendary musicians and international events and tours such as the WWE and many more.
