Popular Designer Involved In Infringement Drama Over Tamaryn Green‘s Traditional Wedding Dress. Former Miss South Africa Tamaryn Green recently tied the knot to her partner Ze Nxumalo in a perfect traditional wedding ceremony. Although the ceremony and the bride looked perfect, it seems like her wedding dress may have caused a bit of a stir.
It has been reported that African Haute Couture designer Bayanda Khathini is suing Sello Medupe of Scalo Designs for the dress he designed for Tamaryn on her wedding day. Green wore a gorgeous blue beaded dress designed by Medupe which Khathini claims is a total infringement of his previous designs. Bayanda has now sent out a letter of demand to Medupe through his lawyers.
Bayanda’s camp is also demanding an apology be issued by Medupe and have ordered him to remove pictures of Tamaryn wearing the dress on his social media platforms. Sello has yet to comment on the situation pertaining to the alleged theft of the design.
“Our client discovered this design infringement when former Miss SA, Tamaryn Green, appeared on social media for her umembeso ceremony. As the creator of his worker, our client has a right to copyright protection of which he does not need to register”
“The protection arises automatically as his work is original and is recorded in a material form,” read a statement from Khathini’s lawyers.
Tarmaryn and Ze recently broke the internet after sharing gorgeous videos and photos from their umembeso ceremony where family and friends all came together to celebrate the couple. Green wore a long red dress and then changed into a blue traditional princess dress with the matching head gear.
Nxumalo also wore his Zulu regalia followed by traditional attire to match his beautiful wife. The couple were surrounded by all their loved ones who came in numbers to celebrate the love. The bride thanked the Lord for the memorable day and the wonderful love she has been blessed with.
