Nomzamo Reveals Why She Went Back To School Despite Her Success! Earlier this year Nomzamo Mbatha finally graduated from UCT with her Accounting Degree after dropping out back in 2012.

The actress recently opened up about the decision to go back to Varsity despite having enjoyed great success as an actress in an interview with Dennis Ngango.

Nomzamo says she felt like the face of failure for a long time because she felt like she had become the excuse of girls and women around the country who felt like they’d be fine because she was doing fine after dropping out. She wanted instead to be the inspiration for others, for people to look at here and think about why you should consider an accounting degree before pursuing their higher education dreams and aspirations.

“Every year, the year would start and I’d say, ‘I’m going to UNISA…I’m going to Monash and the excuse to self of saying but you’re still doing well, you’re still fine, you don’t need the degree’. But it’s not about the degree itself, it’s about the journey and bringing it to completion,” she said.

Her career remains steady regardless of her degree, but the fact that she has it is a fantastic testament to her devotion to be an inspiration for those around her, and to keep developing both herself and the educational prospects for girls and women around the country.
