Award-winning actress, humanitarian, and executive producer Nomzamo Mbatha has reached another milestone in her career. She has just been announced as the first-ever South African brand ambassador for the global haircare brand Creme of Nature.
The announcement was made at a glamorous event in Johannesburg, where Nomzamo’s excitement was clear. Speaking at the launch, she described the partnership as a perfect match.
“I’m so honoured to be a part of a brand that is inclusive and diverse — one that doesn’t speak at us, but speaks to us,” said Nomzamo, who is widely known for her red-carpet-ready hair.
Nomzamo recently spoke to Women’s Health magazine, where she revealed her trusted haircare routine using Creme of Nature products. She explained how each step helps her maintain healthy, soft, and beautiful hair.
“First things first, I use the sulphate-free Creme Of Nature Argan Oil Moisture & Shine Shampoo that doesn’t strip my hair of its moisture, followed by the Creme of Nature Moroccan Argan Oil Intensive Conditioning Hair Treatment. I’ve never had my hair feel as silky and soft as it does now,” she said.
She also adds a few extra steps for those long self-care days: “I spray some Creme Of Nature Argan Oil Leave-in Conditioner to make sure every strand is moisturised. On days when I’m going in really hard, I use the Creme of Nature Argan Oil Style & Shine Foaming Mousse, twist my hair into bantu knots, wrap my silk scarf and go about my day.”
“Some days I lather on the Creme Of Nature Pure Honey Yoghurt Mask, cover my hair with a shower cap to create heat — now you know why ‘wash day’ can take up to 24 hours,” she laughed.
Nomzamo also opened up about her earliest hair memories — and the painful ones still linger. “I have two. My mom burning my ears with a hot curler and saying: ‘Don’t worry!’ then doing it again. The trauma from that experience runs deep, so I don’t want any heat near my ears,” she recalled.
“The second was my first big chop. There was a popular kwaito group at the time, Aba Shante. All the female members had brush cuts. I remember my dad sitting me in the barber’s chair and me asking, ‘Baba, uzongenza iAba Shante?’ (Dad, am I getting an Aba Shante hairstyle?)”
When it comes to haircare, Nomzamo has strong beliefs. One of her biggest tips is to hydrate your hair. “Hydration is super important, especially because the African sun is harsh on our hair. And if you find a hairstylist, make sure they have ‘nurturing’ hands — someone who understands your hair’s texture and treats it with care.”
She also doesn’t compromise on certain hair rules. “I’m not a fan of heat on my hair and if I have to, the heat must be low. I also avoid tight braids because I don’t want any tension on my scalp. It’s 2025, we don’t need to suffer for beauty. We can love our hair and still feel beautiful.”
When asked to name her favourite products, she couldn’t pick just two — but a few stand out.
“The Creme Of Nature Argan Oil Leave-in Conditioner tops my list, it gives my kinks and coils a pretty texture and makes my curls pop. I also love the Creme Of Nature Honey Edges because edges gotta be laid, sometimes,” she said with a laugh. “And of course, the Intensive Conditioning Treatment is really, really good!”
Nomzamo ended the interview by reflecting on how her hair boosts her confidence. “After my skin, my hair is my greatest and favourite accessory. I love experimenting, and the funny thing is my face changes with every hairstyle. My hair is part of my identity and gives me confidence. It adds to who I already know I am.”
