Isibaya actor Menzi Ngubane was close friends with the late Sfiso Ncwane. The actor spoke at his friend’s funeral at the Moses Mabida Stadium Saturday afternoon and he left everyone in tears.
Attending and even speaking at a funeral is a heartbreaking situation for anyone to experience, even more so when it is someone you loved dearly. And Ngubane wanted to honour his late friend by recalling some of his memories with him, which made the service even more special. With him being laid to rest in something like these Batesville caskets, in front of his family and friends who loved Ncwane dearly, it was a perfect send-off. Watch Menzi Ngubane’s emotional speech at Sfiso Ncwane’s funeral.
“I first knew him around 2001 when he first came to Johannesburg and we connected easily even when we were seeing each other for the first time. He told me he had always followed my career on TV and asked me to help him record an album,”he told the the mourners.
Menzi said Sfiso later came to him and told him he didn’t have anything to wear for his first album cover. “Sfiso came to me and told me he had nothing to wear for the photo-shoot of his album’s sleeve. I said ‘it’s okay Sfiso, I will see what I can do for you’. When I arrived home, I selected one of the new navy blue suits I had and right there I decided to give it to him,” he recalled.
