Real Housewives of Durban star Jojo Robinson has opened up about her recent facelift, sharing an unfiltered look at the entire process on her social media. In a detailed video, she walked her followers through the reasons behind her decision to get the surgery and what the journey entailed.
Before undergoing the procedure, Jojo had to first remove the filler from her face. She explained how, the day before the surgery, she felt nervous, especially since she was going to undergo the operation while awake and without full anaesthesia. “Seven and a half hours later, I had no memory either, then one slight memory from the actual surgery itself,” Jojo shared. “You are drugged with a series of sleeping tablets so you are not in full anaesthesia, but you are not fully there, that’s why they call it twilight.”
In the video, Jojo gave a behind-the-scenes look at the surgery itself, showing the bandages being removed from her face, revealing the stitches, and talking openly about the challenges she faced. “I wanted to share everything from start to finish. This video shows the reasons I wanted the facelift to the actual surgery itself. I shared videos that are really ugly. Lol. Let’s not judge. But I wanted you guys to see it as it really was.”
Jojo also previewed what’s to come in Part 2 of her facelift journey. She promised to share the recovery process from day one to six weeks post-surgery, including never-before-seen footage and photos. “The recovery as a whole with never before seen videos and pics I was too scared to show anyone,” she teased. “Everything people never show you about how hard the recovery really is mentally and physically.”
In Part 2, Jojo reveals the emotional and physical toll the recovery took on her. “The first week, I got depressed because I thought I had made a massive mistake doing the surgery. I looked like an absolute MONSTER (some footage I never showed you guys). No one shares everything, so as women, we go into these surgeries blind and unaware that a lot of this process is normal.”
She continued, “But trust me. It’s very hard. You really do question what you have done that first week. I suggest not looking at the mirror. This is why I say this isn’t the most painful surgery but by far the hardest psychologically. Recovery is difficult and uncomfortable. But it’s ALL WORTH IT IN THE END.”
Jojo emphasized the importance of choosing a skilled surgeon. “Always go to a trusted doctor. This is the kind of surgery that you could easily be destroyed if you don’t do your research on who is doing it,” she said, praising her surgeon, Dr. Paul McGarr. “As a surgeon, I believe him to be hands down one of the best in our country.”
Jojo’s honesty about the ups and downs of her facelift journey has been appreciated by many of her followers, with many expressing their support and admiration for her openness. “Thanks for being here with me along this journey. I’ve loved sharing it all with you,” she concluded.
