“I’ve Got Footage of Every Single One of Them”: Lerato Kganyago Says After Catching Alleged Stalkers

Award-winning TV and radio presenter Lerato Kganyago recently shared a shocking and brave story on her Instagram. She revealed that she had been followed by suspicious people—and decided to turn the tables on them.

In a series of Instagram Stories, Lerato explained how she cleverly set a trap at a restaurant and caught everyone involved. “Today, I cleverly set a trap and managed to catch some folks who’ve been following me around. This went happened in a restaurant, and let me tell you, things are about to get interesting… I’ve got footage of EVERY single one of them…and some police members are involved,” she said.

Lerato added that she was tipped off by staff at the restaurant and security guards. They warned her that strangers were asking questions about where she was sitting and what time she arrived. “As much as I had braveryly set this ‘trap,’ I’m very grateful that there are people from the restaurant and security that alerted me that there are people who are following me, and were asking about my whereabouts,” she said.

Luckily, she had a plan. Lerato said she picked a specific restaurant on purpose—one she knew didn’t have a very diverse crowd—so that anyone following her would stand out. “I intentionally chose a restaurant that I was aware lacked a diverse demographic, as I anticipated that they would be more noticeable there…AND THEY WERE!” she said.

She went on to explain how she took pictures and videos of everyone involved. “Pretended to take a picture of my friend, he was sitting right in front of me and followed me as I stood up and went out… My friend parked outside and watched me get in the car, watching every movement of each and every one of them.”

Lerato even said she captured a picture of the police officer who was standing with one of the suspects in the parking lot. “I’ve circulated all their pictures to my loved ones… this is only the beginning,” she warned.

She also revealed that this wasn’t the first time people have followed her. “I have received multiple of DM’s of people who work at establishments, who have made me aware of situations like… I’ve been documenting each and every one of them!”

Although she doesn’t fully trust the police, she puts her trust in ordinary people who keep her informed. “I don’t say anything because I DON’T TRUST the LAW but I TRUST THE PEOPLE! I was VERY much aware of THIS DAY too and kept my cool. I ALWAYS capture the individuals! ALWAYS!”

She ended her message by letting fans know that she is safe. “I’m ok… I am safe at home! I don’t mean to scare you! But be vigilant… document and protect yourself!”

Even though this was a scary situation, Lerato says she chooses to remain happy and strong. “I will ALWAYS look and sound happy, because that’s what keeps me ALIVE in spirit!!! My fear??? My FEAR is worn out… I do NOT fear anymore!”

In a final shocking part of her story, Lerato said she confronted one of the men, even while a police officer stood by and said nothing. “I bravely got out of the car, BY MYSELF which I don’t advise, and confronted one of them… standing next to a uniformed police officer, who said NOTHING, while this confrontation happened.”

“They only walked away when they realized I had been recording ALL OF THEM… I ONLY did this because I knew I had ‘invisible’ security around me… THEY ARE THUGS!”

Lerato’s story is a warning to everyone to stay alert and protect themselves at all times.
