American actress Gabrielle Union recently visited Cape Town with her family and shared some of the unforgettable moments she experienced during her stay in the Mother City. From beautiful sunsets and beaches to fashion and wine farms, the actress revealed why Cape Town continues to hold a special place in her heart.
Gabrielle spoke highly about Klein Goederust, which she described as “The only black-owned winery in Cape Town. Wonderful owners who have become family to us.” The actress shared pictures and videos from the winery while reflecting on the memories she created there with her loved ones over the years.
She also enjoyed Cape Town’s famous sunsets and beaches during her stay. Gabrielle visited AKJP Studio, a fashion store known for selling designs from local South African designers. The actress also spent time filming a fun project with friends, penguins, and renowned South African designer Thebe Magugu, who partnered with Mount Nelson Hotel to curate a suite and concept store.
Gabrielle later reflected on her connection with Klein Goederust and explained why the winery means so much to her family. She wrote, “A few years ago, I came to @klein_goederust with my family to celebrate my 50th, we were out in the vineyard, planting, learning, and connecting with this beautiful place and the people behind it. Coming back and seeing how much the winery has grown and transformed since then, and getting to taste the fruit of our labor, was really special. What they’ve built here is truly incredible… and somewhere along the way, the owners and their families became like family to us too.”
The actress also shared an emotional moment during the trip. Gabrielle revealed that she buried her father’s ashes at the winery under the vines they planted together years ago. In a touching video, she showed herself digging a small hole before placing the ashes in the ground. She wrote in the video, “Burying my dads ashes at a winery in Cape Town, under the very vines we planted together as family just a few years ago.”
Her visit showcased not only the beauty of Cape Town but also the deep personal connection she and her family have built with the city over the years.
