Former Jozi FM DJ Sentenced To 20 Years For His Girlfriend’s Murder

Former Jozi FM DJ has been sentenced to 20 years in jail for stabbing his girlfriend to death, 5 years were also added for attempting to defeat the ends of justice. The sentences will run concurrently.

Sebolai, 38, was convicted in October of murdering his girlfriend Rachel “Dolly” Tshabalala, 32. Tshabalala was stabbed in her pubic area when the couple had a fight at Sebolai’s Soweto flat in 2014. She bled to death.

“It is clear from the evidence that it was a senseless killing of the deceased by the accused,” said Judge Cassim Moosa. Judge Moosa also said the accused was more regretful than remorseful.

Tshabalala’s car was found abandoned near a park in Soweto. The murder weapon and some of her bloodied clothes were found in the car. Police discovered that the accused had cleaned his flat of Tshabalala’s blood.
