South African TV star and businesswoman DJ Zinhle is being praised across social media for her generous donation to the family of late actress Nandi Nyembe. Nyembe, known for her roles in shows like Zone 14 and Adulting, sadly passed away in hospital on Saturday, 23 August 2025.
While many fans and celebrities shared their sadness online, DJ Zinhle decided to take action by donating R10 000 to help with funeral costs. The well-loved star, who recently pulled off another successful Zee Nation event, showed her support in a meaningful way.
Influencer Mandisi Tshigana has been leading efforts to raise money for Nyembe’s funeral. He shared a screenshot of DJ Zinhle’s donation on Instagram, which touched many people’s hearts. “40,000 farewells for uMama Wethu. Hayibo bafazindini???? I am deeply grateful to share that together we have raised R40,000 in donations for Mam’ Nandi Nyembe,” Mandisi wrote.
He added, “Your generosity and kindness mean the world during this difficult time. This contribution will help provide Mam’ Nandi with a dignified and honourable farewell, fitting of the remarkable woman she was. Thank you all from the bottom of my heart for your support and compassion. UThifta anisikelele yhu andinamazi.”
The fundraising started on Wednesday morning, and by that evening, more than R40 000 had already been collected. The money was sent directly to Nyembe’s daughter. Mandisi also shared her banking details so more people could send donations directly. He even included an address for anyone who wanted to send groceries or other types of support.
The generosity didn’t stop with DJ Zinhle. Well-known actresses Thembi Seete and Mchunu each gave R5 000. Contributions continued to pour in, even after the initial R40 000 had been raised.
Nandi Nyembe’s family has received an overwhelming show of love from both celebrities and ordinary South Africans. Thanks to the kindness of many, including DJ Zinhle, the beloved actress will receive a respectful and heartfelt farewell.
