South African TV icon and former beauty queen Basetsana Kumalo is filled with joy and gratitude as one of the country’s most beloved lifestyle shows, Top Billing, is set to return in March 2026.
Kumalo, who helped define the show’s legacy, proudly shared the exciting news on Instagram, writing:
“@basetsanakumalo helped define @topbillingtv’s voice and now she’s part of its exciting return to S3! Don’t miss the new chapter of SA’s iconic lifestyle show, coming March 2026! All premiere details coming soon. #ExpressoShow.”
Fans can also look forward to a special reunion episode on SABC3 on 27 November at 7pm, where old and new faces will come together to celebrate the show that inspired generations of South Africans to dream bigger.
In a heartfelt post, Basetsana reflected on her journey with Top Billing and what its return means to her. She shared: “Today I’m filled with gratitude and much excitement, because the new era of Top Billing is dawning. March 2026 marks our return, a full-circle moment where legacy meets reinvention.”
Basetsana, who started her presenting career on the show in the early years, said she never imagined Top Billing would make a comeback after its final episode in October 2019. “On the day we aired our last episode in October 2019, part of me thought I would never see the rebirth of this baby,” she said.
She recalled her early days on the show with pride and nostalgia, saying: “From my very first moment in front of the camera on this iconic lifestyle show, I knew I had embarked on a journey far greater than myself. As a young woman gifted the chance to step into broadcasting and show South Africa to the world, Top Billing wasn’t just a weekly appointment; it became a voice for elegance, possibility, and the belief that we could dream big even while grounded in our own soil.”
Basetsana went on to share how the show inspired countless South Africans: “I remember standing on that set many moons ago and feeling the thrill of telling stories about design, travel, weddings, and homes. We weren’t simply showcasing the good life, we were lighting a spark in someone watching at home, somewhere in suburbia or township, asking: ‘Could that be me one day?’”
She also celebrated how Top Billing played a vital role in nurturing young talent, creating platforms, and shaping local culture. “This relaunch doesn’t just symbolise a show coming back to screens,” she said, “it symbolises the power of belief, the reward of patience, and the necessity of staying true to your vision even when the world says otherwise.”
Closing her message with hope and inspiration, Basetsana said: “To everyone who grew up watching us, to those just discovering us, and to the team who will breathe fresh life into this brand, let us keep dreaming together. Because this is still a beautiful life.”
