AKA admits to being influenced and inspired by his bae Bonang Matheba. AKA says he has had to rethink what it means to be a “brand”, we have to say Bonang’s influence doesn’t go unnoticed, who better knows about “branding” than Queen B?
AKA says he’s made some changes since he got with the queen, from fashion to social media. Nothing proves that more than the rapper being spotted front row at the GQ South Africa fashion show his past weekend with his bro Da Les.
“I always had style, I guess now I have the money and made the connections to dress nice. I’m in close proximity to someone who has made me rethink what it means to be a “brand””, he shared on Instagram.
The inspiration doesn’t stop there, the rapper also revealed he got rid of his social media management (so Bonang), “I used to have shitty social media management for instance …. I’ve just picked up a few things from her, observed, and made them my own”, he said.
Remember when Bonang made headlines last year after she pulled up a Beyonce and fired most of her team including her hair and make-up friend Ntato Mashishi and Somizi also got caught up in the clean up? Sounds familiar now? Okay.
According to AKA, that’s what happens when “great people come together. Inspiration. ?”. These two might be our own Jay and Bey in the making, yes we know Bonang doesn’t sing like that but she’s still queen B.
