7 de Laan Veteran Actress Themsie Times Has Passed Away (Maria). 2021 has been a bitter sweet year for many people especially the entertainment industry having lost a few veterans. More bad news has unfortunately been delivered to TV lovers as one of Mzansi’s prized actresses has reportedly passed on. It has been conformed that 70 year old actress Themsie Times has passed away.
It was confirmed by 7de Laan publicity manager Kayleen Bessit that Themsie died on Thursday. Maria was best known for her role on 7de Laan as Maria who was a sassy and money-loving domestic helper for Hilda (Annelisa Weiland) and Oubaas (Pierre van Pletzen) on the show. The actress has been a part of the show for a total of 13 years and the productions is heartbroken to hear about her passing.
“It is unfortunately true. As far as I understand she passed yesterday,” the publicist said.
Even though she was most popular as Maria, Times also featured in other big productions including the role Ma Jordan in the first season of Yizo Yizo and appearances in films such including Cry, the Beloved County and Beat the Drum.
Times left 7 de Laan in 2016 however, the production still felt emotionally tied to the actress. After leaving the show, Themsie dedicated her efforts to the church. The actress was a mom of three and a grandmother of six, and lived in Johannesburg with two of her grandchildren.
Condolences have since been pouring in for the actress on social media as fans are sad to hear about her passing. The actresses cause of death has not yet been disclosed but we would like to extend our condolences to the family of Themsie.
