DJ Zinhle Reportedly Defrauded R500K By An Employee. Being an entrepreneur has a lot of risks which include failure and theft within the company. We are sure the stress is amplified when one owns multiple business ventures and also has a thriving DJ-ing career to manage on the side as well. We have heard many stories of celebs getting scammed and robbed of money by employees and DJ Zinhle is the latest celeb who just got hustled.
Reports have revealed the DJ’s financial woes after half a million rand was stolen from her bank account. Sunday World reported that Zinhle’s bank account was fraudulently accessed by one of her employees, who siphoned R500 000 from the star over the course of one year from July last year to July this year.
A source revealed that Zinhle discovered that an employee, who knew the username and password to her bank account, stole the money from her while she was in a consultation meeting with her lawyers Mashele Attorneys in Protea Glen, Soweto, in July this year. Upon discovering the missing funds, Zinhle apparently questioned an employee she suspected, who worked at the store accounts department.
After the suspect claimed to have no idea what happened to the money, Zinhle opened a case of fraud and theft at the Protea Glen police station. A police statement by Zinhle that Sunday World has seen details the transfers have been happening from July 2020 and bank statement show that R500 000 has been transferred.
“The complainant alleged that on 2021-07- 21 she went to Protea North at Mashele Attorneys to consult with her attorney and she realised that , who is working in accounts department in her company, has been transferring money into her banking account.” the statement reads.
After obtaining statements from potential witnesses, the police went to the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) last week to ask prosecutors to assist them to apply for a section 205 which is an order of the Criminal Procedure Act. This allows investigators the right to access information that is not in the public domain) and retrieve the bank statements of an employee.
Gauteng provincial police spokesperson Captain Kay Makhubela confirmed that Jiyane opened a case of theft and fraud at Protea Glen.
“No arrest has been made and police investigations are under way,” he said.
Zinhle has refrained from commenting on the matter as it is now an official legal matter but we hope she handles that situation quick. The award-winning South African DJ and entrepreneur just successfully opened another Era by DJ Zinhle store in Pavilion Mall, Durban. This is her third physical store and she couldn’t be more grateful for the support.
