Skeem Saam Responds To Allegations Of Mistreating Acting Extras. It’s not the first time that cast members have complained about the treatment received on a production, and reports have revealed that one of Mzansi’s most watch telenovelas Skeem Saam, has been accused of doing the same to their extra’s.

SABC 1’s Skeem Saam has now come out to dismiss allegations of ill-treatment of extras on set, claiming that all members on the production are treated with respect and value. This after reports surfaced of the production making extra’s work late hours on set without food. According to the Daily Sun publication spoke to sources who asked to remain anonymous as they claim the production makes them feel less than human.

Among many of the shocking accusations, one extra shared that if one were to miss a meal served at a certain time, they would have to go without food for the whole day.

“If we miss the allocated time for breakfast, we go hungry all day,” the extras said.

In a statement sent to the TshisaLIVE publication , producers of the show denied all allegations, sharing their shock and disappointment of the false accusations. Skeem Saam publicity and social media manager Sumaya Mogola shared that their production is the type to make all member of cast and crew including extra’s feel apart of the family unit.

“We have never received any complaints regarding our extras being ill-treated. Every person who is part of our crew plays a valuable role and this includes our extras. In fact, we are the type of production where everyone is valued and made to feel as part of one family,” Sumaya Mogola said.

Skeem Saam is the third most-viewed soapie in South Africa with over 8million viewers, which happens to be on par with Generations: The Legacy and Uzalo with a total of 9 million visitors The show debuted on SABC1 in 2011 and TV fans have made it a household favourite since they took over the small screen.
