Black Twitter Drags Siv Ngesi For Allegedly Using His Art To Exploit The LGBTQI Community. Siv Ngesi has proven to be the epitome of a metrosexual men through all his adventurous activities. The actor has portrayed immense bravery despite the scrutiny he receives for engaging in feminine activities such as Pole dancing and his new found hobby of drag.
The Knuckle City actor had everybody shook after he introduced his full drag alter ego Sivanna, who is making a career path of her own. According to Siv, his reason for being so invested in his drag persona is because he is trying to being awareness to the society that still frowns upon anybody’s sexuality that defy’s the norms.
Another one of his reasons to fully participate in the world of drag, is because he thinks it’s really fun and entertaining, also he has always been fond of drag queens and their craft. Although his reasons might be innocent, the masses are not convinced and have accused Ngesi of allegedly taking advantage of the LGBTQI community for his own benefit.
This has been a topic of discussion since the morning on twitter, and a lot of people have something to say about the matter. It appears as though members of the LGBTQI community are also outraged at Siv for having the freedom of cross dressing and going back to his normal life after whereas, when a gay member of society does the same, they’re at risk of getting killed.
The term Performance activism ( activism done to increase ones social capital rather than one’s devotion to the cause) was used to label the media personality and needless to say, they are livid to the tenth degree. This comes after Sivanna bagged a modelling gig with Beyonce’s Icy Park in partnership with Adidas, where she and a number of other local celebs were tapped to model for the new release.
In more recent times, Mzansi’s LGBTQI community were left in shock after the murder of 34-year-old Siphamandla Khoza from KwaZulu-Natal was attacked and humiliated for his sexuality. Social media is also calling for the justice of another act of violence toward the targeted community after the murder of Andile “Lulu” Ntuthela, from KwaNobuhle in the Eastern Cape. The people of twitter are outraged that Ngesi who is allegedly a LGBTQI activist has gone quite despite the horrific incidents.
The Gay and Lesbian Association of SA (Glasa) condemned Ntuthela’s murder and called for the justice system to ensure perpetrators face harsher sentences for their crimes.
