Josias Moleele Takes Over as Marothi on Skeem Saam

Skeem Saam is introducing a familiar face to the world of Turf as actor Josias Dos Moleele joins the popular SABC 1 drama, stepping into the role of the much-loved character Marothi.

The character was originally brought to life by actor Macks Papo, who became closely associated with Marothi during his time on the show. Through his portrayal, Macks gave the character his own personality, energy and depth, helping Marothi become a memorable part of the Skeem Saam story and earning a special place among viewers.

Earlier this year, Macks Papo made his return to the popular television drama. However, his time back on the show was cut short when personal reasons prevented him from continuing to film with the production.

Now, Josias Moleele is stepping into the role and will offer viewers his own interpretation of Marothi. Taking over a character that has already built a strong connection with audiences is no small task, but Josias is ready to bring something different to the role while continuing Marothi’s story.

His arrival also marks another change in the ever-evolving world of Turf, with viewers getting the opportunity to see how the actor makes the character his own. Marothi Printworks will also continue to form part of the storyline as the character enters this new chapter.

The recasting is expected to spark interest among long-time Skeem Saam viewers, particularly those who have followed Marothi’s journey and remember Macks Papo’s portrayal of the character.

Fans will soon get their first look at Josias Moleele as Marothi when he makes his debut on Skeem Saam on Thursday, 15 October 2026.

The popular drama airs on weekdays at 19:30 on SABC 1 and SABC.
