She said, “I really admired Brenda Fassie and Lebo Mathosa. They were like our pop stars. You know growing up in South Africa, just that they’re from somewhere where I’m from and they’re successful and they were just like rock stars. Their music was just infectious. It was everywhere in South Africa and they were like women and it’s something that I’ve always wanted to do.”
