Rapper and host L-Tido, whose real name is Thato Madonsela, is celebrating a big win! His popular podcast, The L-Tido Podcast, has been picked up by DStv and will now air on television.
The podcast will be broadcast every Thursday at 9:30pm on Mzansi Wethu, which is channel 163 on DStv. This is a huge step forward for L-Tido, who launched the podcast in 2022. Since then, it has featured honest and unfiltered interviews with some of South Africa’s biggest celebrities, including the late rapper AKA, Boity Thulo, Pearl Thusi, Emtee, and most recently, Anele Zondo.
This move comes after MultiChoice, the company behind DStv, announced in March that it would start showing eight original podcasts on its platforms. However, since the announcement, two shows have already been removed: Lasizwe’s Awkward Dates and MacG’s Podcast and Chill.
In May, Lufuno Maliavusa, CEO of Leading Edge Growth and DStv’s digital distribution partner, explained that the first seasons of both shows had ended. He also shared that this opened up space for new and exciting content — and The L-Tido Podcast is one of the fresh additions.
Fans and celebrities were quick to celebrate L-Tido’s achievement. Actress and singer Nandi Madida shared her joy, saying, “Aka would be proud! Congrats brother.” Rapper Cassper Nyovest added with laughter, “Hahaha you are exactly like me wena!!! Your true colours are coming out!!! Big ups!!!” Actress Buhle Samuels also showed love, commenting, “OMG!!!! I’m so proud and happy for you fam!”
L-Tido’s fans are excited to now watch his interviews on TV. With his relaxed and honest way of talking to guests, the rapper-turned-host continues to win hearts and break new ground in the media world.
Don’t miss The L-Tido Podcast every Thursday at 9:30pm on Mzansi Wethu, DStv channel 163!
