According to Daily Sun, on Thursday, 5 June, Vuyelwa Booi, e.tv’s manager of local programming, praised the show for its powerful impact and storytelling. “The channel is proud to have aired such a gripping and multi-layered story that kept viewers captivated every night. We extend our heartfelt thanks to the production company, The Final Chapter Production, and the talented cast and crew for their exceptional work over the past three seasons,” she said.

She added, “Smoke & Mirrors has raised the bar in local storytelling, and although its story has reached its natural end, our dedication to showcasing bold and compelling local narratives continues.”

The telenovela, which is set in the mysterious mining town of Emnyameni, won over South African viewers with its story of revenge, secrets, and justice. The lead character, Thandiswa, has been on a powerful journey to get justice for her sister, who was murdered by a dangerous trio of men known as the “Unholy Trinity.”

Director and producer Zuko Nodada promised an unforgettable final season that will tie all the loose ends. He explained, “From the beginning, we always knew the premise of Smoke & Mirrors centred around Thandiswa’s mission to avenge her sister, who was brutally killed by the men known as the Unholy Trinity. Over the past three seasons, she has taken down two of them, and now, only one remains. Will she succeed, or will her mission end in failure? We’re excited to bring this powerful story to its ultimate conclusion, and are confident viewers will be just as captivated.”

Since its debut, the show has become a major hit on e.tv, growing its fanbase and becoming the most-watched 9pm drama in the country. Its mix of emotional drama, suspense, and unforgettable characters has made it a standout in local television.
