Beloved veteran actress Baby Cele is set to bring her formidable talent to the Mzansi Wethu telenovela, “Sibongile & The Dlaminis,” in its eagerly anticipated second season. This exciting development comes just months after Cele bid farewell to her long-time role on SABC 1’s hit drama series, “Uzalo,” where she spent nearly seven years captivating audiences as Gabisile Mdletshe.

Reflecting on her departure from “Uzalo,” Cele shared with IOL Entertainment, “I have played Gabisile for so many years. She became part of my life. So leaving feels like I have lost a part of me.” She described her time on the show with warmth and nostalgia, noting, “Uzalo was and will forever be my home. I was loved in the production, I had family, I was respected, and we worked well together.”

Cele’s exit from “Uzalo” follows a series of significant changes within the show’s production, including the departure of her on-screen son, portrayed by Wiseman Mncube.

Now, Cele embarks on a new chapter as she joins “Sibongile & The Dlaminis” as Samkelisiwe, the sister of Bab’Ntombela. Her character promises to stir the pot for former friends Deliwe and Phetheni, with whom she shares a complicated history. The trio originally bonded over their shared misfortune of being scammed, but Samkelisiwe ended up feeling short-changed in the friendship. Driven by a desire for revenge, she returns to Ixopo, ready to turn lives upside down.

Fans can look forward to Cele’s debut on “Sibongile & The Dlaminis” on July 29, where her arrival is sure to bring a wave of drama and intrigue. Her presence is expected to add a compelling dynamic to the show, keeping viewers on the edge of their seats as the story unfolds.
