South African media personality Luthando Shosha, popularly known as Loot Love, has paid tribute to her late younger brother, Lukhanyiso Shosha, with a heartfelt message reflecting on grief, love and the lessons she has learned since his passing.
The television presenter and radio personality shared photographs of her younger brother on social media, accompanying them with an emotional tribute as she remembered him six years after his death in October 2020.
In her touching message, Loot Love opened up about how difficult it remains to navigate life without her brother physically present, while expressing gratitude for the ways she continues to feel his presence.
“You’ve been gone for six years now, and it’s still so strange to me that I live in a world where you aren’t physically here. Six years, Lholhi? Insane. But one thing remains steady and constant: you WILL find ways to remind me that you are still here.”
Reflecting on the years since his passing, Loot Love explained how her understanding of love has evolved through grief and personal experiences. She highlighted the ways love continues to connect people, even when they are no longer physically together.
“I’ve learned so much about love in the last seven years. I say seven because of you and the girls. I’ve learned that love really is the beginning and end of life. I’ve learned that it transcends time and space and flows through everything. I’ve learned that it is both gentle and fierce, demanding to be felt and experienced. Love is acceptance beyond understanding. Love is also freedom, funny how grief taught me that.”
The media personality also spoke about how losing her brother has changed her perspective on life, faith and the world around her. Although she has continued to search for answers, she believes the experience has brought a different kind of understanding.
“I’ve questioned so much about how I see things, how I understand God and how I view the world since you left. But l’ve received the kind of answers that can only grow, change and rewire one’s mind, spirit and body.”
Despite the lessons she has gained, Loot Love made it clear that the pain of losing her brother has not disappeared. She admitted that she still wishes he could return, while appreciating the small and unexpected reminders that keep his memory alive.
“I still want you to come back. I miss you terribly but with how I understand life now, I am grateful that you are always around us in small, funny and brilliant ways.”
One particularly meaningful moment for Loot Love was listening to her brother’s voice again and hearing his laughter, something she described as a blessing.
“I listened to your voice the other day and heard your laugh, what a blessing.”
She ended her tribute with loving words for Luke, reflecting on the passage of time and the lasting impact of his absence on the family.
“Luke the Kid, my forever ethereal enigma, Six years is short, but also really long. The duality of life. We love you. We miss you.”
Through her tribute, Loot Love shared a deeply personal reflection on how grief can change one’s understanding of love, faith and life. Six years after losing her younger brother, her words show that while his physical absence remains painful, the memories they shared and the love she holds for him continue to be part of her life.
