South Africa’s Miss World contestant, Zoalize Jansen van Rensburg, has finally spoken out after not making it into the Top 40 at the prestigious international pageant last week.
Zoalize, an 18-year-old law student from Johannesburg, was seen as a strong favourite going into the 72nd Miss World competition, which took place in Hyderabad, India, on 31 May. Many fans were shocked when her name was not called during the final round, especially since she had been a standout throughout the event.
The crown was ultimately awarded to Thailand’s Opal Suchata, leaving Zoalize and her supporters disappointed by the outcome.
Despite the surprise elimination, the 18-year-old beauty queen has remained positive and graceful in her response. Taking to Instagram, Zoalize thanked her supporters for their love throughout her journey and shared an emotional message reflecting on the experience.
She wrote, “Today, my heart is filled with the colours of the rainbow. I am a proud daughter of the rainbow nation and a proud daughter of the world. This journey has taught me the importance of patience, tolerance, and, most importantly, drawing strength from my purpose.”
Zoalize continued by expressing deep appreciation for her mentors, her supporters, and her country. “I owe my eternal gratitude to everyone who has been part of this journey… Thank you for enabling me to do my best,” she added.
Her powerful and heartfelt message touched many South Africans, including Miss World South Africa franchise owner Carol Bouwer, who praised Zoalize’s efforts and character.
Carol shared on her Instagram, “Zoalize, you have taught me that the number of years lived are not the real measure of wisdom. In our eyes, you are the world! You were outstanding from the very beginning, and we love and cherish you.”
Bouwer went on to thank the Miss World South Africa team and all the South Africans who supported Zoalize. She added, “South Africa is a nation born of great resolve. As we return home, we do so with pride.”
According to The South African, the young pageant star also hinted that her pageant journey might not be over just yet. When asked by fans if she would consider entering Miss South Africa or Miss Universe South Africa, Zoalize replied, “We never know what the future holds.”
