TV presenter and radio host Zanele Potelwa recently marked her 31st birthday with a heartfelt celebration. Taking to social media, the beloved media personality shared stunning birthday photos and expressed gratitude for another year of life.
“Thank you Jesus for another year. There’s so much to say because GOD is so faithful, but for now; It’s my birthday my Champions and I’m so so excited for the beautiful, blessed and Christ-filled memories ahead. Thank you for being on this crazy journey with me,” she wrote.
Beyond celebrating her special day, Zanele also spoke about her passion for music and the importance of platforms that recognise artists’ hard work. She emphasised how events like the South African Music Awards and Metro FM Music Awards play a crucial role in uplifting musicians.
“Platforms like the Metro FM Music Awards and other awards allow people to know that they are going in the right direction, that we are proud of them, and also allow them to be celebrated. Sometimes I don’t think we realise how much they do. It’s all about recognising them and just affirming them in the work that they do,” she said.
Known for hosting Selimathunzi and The Expresso Show, as well as her presence on prestigious red carpets, Zanele is now expanding her career into new ventures. She revealed that she is diving into entrepreneurship, launching her own clothing brand, and reviving her podcast, which she first started during the COVID-19 pandemic.
“My clothing brand has been a long time coming, and that’s going to be happening very soon. On top of that, I’ll also be going into creating on platforms like YouTube. My podcast, which I started during Covid, is coming back stronger than ever,” she shared.
Reflecting on her journey, Zanele expressed her excitement for what lies ahead, stating that she now wants to take more control over her creative projects.
“I’ve been fortunate to do so much in television, from Tropika Island of Treasure to Selimathunzi. It’s all of these ways that we’re able to create and make entertainment happen. Now I want to do so from my own side—be produced by me, made by me, and all those things,” she said.
