Watch! Unathi Takes Legal Action Against Kaya FM Following Failure To Correct GBV Allegations. Unathi has been making all the headlines this past week and for all the wrong reasons. Reports alleged that Unathi’s termination from Kaya FM stemmed from untrue GBV allegations made by the Idols SA judge against former colleague Sizwe Dhlomo. According to reports, following a squabble between the two, Nkayi went to HR claiming Dhlomo had yelled at her and emotionally abused her during their argument.
Sizwe Dhlomo took to social media to tell his side of the story, saying he was not at fault and he is not sorry about what happened. Social media users judged Unathi for almost ruining Sizwe’s hard earned career and claimed to have lost all respects for the singer. Now that Kaya has decided to let Unathi go, the singer is taking action against the station on account of negligance.
Unathi broke her silence for the first time following the scandal with a statement saying she is taking legal action against the station. Nkayi claims that both her and Sizwe’s statement’s were read and both contained statement that were regarded as false. In her video posted on Instagram, Unathi claims she was silenced by the station after they instructed her to not speak publicly about the matter on her social media platforms because of contractual agreements.
The main thing that Unathi wished to address are the fake GBV allegations that have been levelled against her claiming she made false GBV accusations about Dhlomo, which all stemmed from Sizwe’s many tweets regarding the occurrence.
“I never alleged at any time that Sizwe committed any acts Of Gender Based Violence against me. Sizwe knows this and Kaya knows this” she said.
Kaya FM and Sizwe Dhlomo’s failure to correct the false GBV narrative has forced her to finally speak up and defend herself. Unathi has handed the matter over to her attorneys to handle and her followers are showing a lot of support. In closing, Unathi made it clear that her and Sizwe are not friends and she is distancing herself from him following remarks he made about her failed marriage and her children live on air.
It was confirmed that Unathi had been fired “effective immediately” from the station after a verbal conflict that Nkayi had with one of the station’s popular presenters and led to disciplinary action taken against her. Unathi who presented Midday Joy on the station, complained that Dhlomo who hosts the slot after hers, arrived late for the handover of his show Afternoon Drive.
Following the verbal altercation, Nkayi allegedly reported Dhlomo to human resources (HR) saying he was aggressive and verbally abusive to her, using the F-word during their squabble, which left her feeling intimidated and was afraid to be around him.
