South African music sensation Tyla is set to take her talent to one of the world’s biggest sporting stages after being confirmed for the opening celebrations of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The award-winning amapiano star will represent both South Africa and African music during the highly anticipated tournament in North America. Tyla is expected to perform in Mexico City and Los Angeles as part of the global football spectacle’s opening festivities.

One of the biggest highlights will see Tyla headline the opening ceremony at the iconic Estadio Azteca on June 11. Her performance will take place before the opening clash between Mexico and South Africa, giving fans a memorable mix of football and music on the same stage.

The exciting announcement marks another major international achievement for the singer, whose career continues to grow beyond borders. Tyla has become one of Africa’s fastest-rising stars, and her appearance at the World Cup is expected to introduce her music to even more audiences across the globe.

The celebrations in America will also feature several international artists. The lineup for the Los Angeles opening event includes Katy Perry, Future, Rema and LISA.

At the same time, global music icon Shakira has already started building excitement for the tournament after teasing the official FIFA World Cup 2026 anthem “Dai Dai,” which is expected to drop on 14 May 2026.
