Tyla once again proves she is more than just a South African star, she’s a global sensation. The singer has three major songs on the list, each showing her ability to cross borders and connect with different audiences. Her shimmering crossover hit “Show Me Love” with WizTheMc has been on heavy rotation worldwide, while the sultry “Bliss” continues to gain fans across continents. To top it off, her chart-topping “PUSH 2 START” remix featuring Sean Paul and Davido cements her as one of the most versatile collaborators in the industry. With every release, Tyla effortlessly blends genres and cultures, solidifying her status as a true international star.
On the Amapiano side, DJ Maphorisa is holding the crown with not one, but five songs featured on the list. Known for shaping and pushing the genre beyond borders, Maphorisa’s impact is undeniable. Hits like “Abantwana Bakho” with Kabza De Small and Nkosazana Daughter, as well as “Uyaphapha Marn” with Scotts Maphuma, have become fan favourites. Club anthem “Sangena” featuring Toss also made the cut, further proving his role as a trendsetter in the ever-growing Amapiano movement.
Speaking about the achievement, Phiona Okumu, Spotify’s Head of Music in Sub-Saharan Africa, praised the influence of local stars. She said:
“The 2025 Global Impact List proves that when collaboration fuels creativity, South African music becomes an unstoppable force. We’re not just seeing global reach — we’re seeing global influence.”
The recognition from Spotify underscores the unstoppable rise of South African music. From Tyla’s global pop dominance to DJ Maphorisa’s Amapiano leadership, it’s clear that Mzansi’s sound is not just trending — it’s transforming the global music scene.
