TikTok user Likhona Sukume is determined to expose media personality Jub Jub for allegedly owing him money. Likhona recently posted a video showing him delivering a letter of demand from the small claims court to a house he claims belongs to Jub Jub, with police officers in tow. Likhona alleges that the media personality, whose real name is Molemo Maarohanye, borrowed R50,000 from him to cover the costs of an event held in December. While Jub Jub reportedly paid back R15,000, Likhona says he’s still waiting for the remaining balance.
“I could see this man is playing around. I tried to communicate and when I did not get him on a call I decided to make a voice note telling him I’m going to take legal action if he doesn’t pay back my entire amount. So he gave me R15,000,” Likhona told TshisaLIVE. “When I contacted him he would get back to me perhaps after a day and tell me one of his stories.”
Likhona claims that Jub Jub promised to pay back the loan once he received payment from Computicket. Later, Jub Jub allegedly said he was waiting on a payment from Moja Love to settle the rest of the debt.
TshisaLIVE reached out to Jub Jub for comment but did not receive a response before publication.
In an exclusive audio clip obtained by TshisaLIVE, Jub Jub responds to the situation, saying, “Does he want to go to court? Or is he busy with this social media thing? On social media, I’ve been called a rapist, I’ve been called a murderer, I don’t care. Ask him whether he wants his money or if he wants to go to court. He must apologise, otherwise, he’ll be sorry for posting my house.”
Likhona says that after contacting Moja Love, he was advised by the CEO to handle the issue directly with Jub Jub instead of involving the network. “My intention was to get help since they portray themselves as a channel that helps people with umjolo and their monies,” Likhona explained.
However, Moja Love told TshisaLIVE they cannot intervene in Jub Jub’s personal matters. “This is a personal matter between Jub Jub and the person he owes money. The company cannot get involved in personal issues between talent and how they engage outside the work they are contracted for,” said the channel.
Likhona added that X-Repo, a show that focuses on recovering goods, also cannot help because the issue is about money, not possessions.
After his post went viral, Likhona said he received numerous comments from others claiming that Jub Jub owes them money too. He is now planning to escalate the matter. “I am going to pursue it criminally. There are people he’s owing. Those to me are elements of criminality. I was the one who was victimised. It’s my money, and it’s my debt that is accumulating,” Likhona said.
He also revealed that he reported the matter as a fraud incident to his bank and plans to reach out to the Hawks. “I want to believe he has been victimising a lot of people for the longest time, and some are afraid of him. If this is how I am meant to die, wanting my money, then let it be,” Likhona added.
Some of the people who claim to be owed money by Jub Jub have preferred to stay anonymous and are allowing their lawyers to handle the matter. However, others have taken to social media to share their stories. “He and his wife owe me R200k. We are not the only ones in this situation,” one TikTok user posted.
