The private ceremony took place over the weekend and was attended by close friends and family. The event’s theme was “Royal Rebels,” and the dress code was striking—everyone wore black, creating a dramatic contrast to the couple’s outfits. Anele looked breathtaking in a long, flowing white gown, while Bonelela James stood tall in a classic black-and-white suit.
Adding a special touch to the evening was a performance by the legendary Grammy-winning group Ladysmith Black Mambazo. Their soulful harmonies set the tone as guests enjoyed the elegant celebration. According to TimesLive, Anele’s longtime friend and Kaya 959 radio host, Sizwe Dhlomo, spoke on behalf of the families. He reflected on the significance of the occasion and praised the cultural importance of the steps taken by the couple.
“We wish these two incredible people an eternal union, filled with love and fulfilment,” said Dhlomo. “In African culture, a groom never really concludes lobola. But we are proud that the Mgudlwa royal house of the AbaThembu kingdom has honoured ooHlathi in bringing these two together in such a dignified traditional process.”
Prince Bonelela also took a moment to share a heartfelt tribute to Anele on social media. Quoting Isaiah 60:1, he wrote, “Arise, shine, for your light has come, and the glory of the Lord rises upon you.”
“You are my new dawn—my morning sun after the longest night,” he continued. “Through every season, you rise—graceful, radiant, and powerful. I thank God daily for the gift of you. You are my heart’s greatest treasure, and my forever dawn.”
