Three Women Reportedly Open Sexual Assault Cases Against Katlego Maboe. Things are still not looking to good for former Expresso host Katlego Maboe after a video of him confessing to cheating on his girlfriend Monique Muller and giving allegedly her an STI went viral. Since then Maboe’s career had taken a back seat until he was recently nominated for the Best TV Presenter category at the South African Film And Television Awards.
Shortly after the news broke, Katlego’s nomination was revoked by the platform because of gender based violence allegations looming over him. Social media users were split about the situation claiming that the platform supporting an alleged abuser is simply unethical while others voiced that the decision was unfair and was executed just as a publicity stunt.
Well know GBV activist organization Women For Change has uncovered more information about Katlego and the whole SAFTA debacle with an interview clip from eNCA. A member of the SAFTA’s judging chairperson Janet Van Eeden clearing up the air on why Maboe’s nomination was removed.According to Van Eeden, they received a lot of pressure from gender based violence organizations and gay organizations to remove him from the category.
Janet also added that an upon speaking to Maboe‘s lawyers it was discovered through an undisclosed organization that three women have allegedly opened sexual assault cases against Katlego. The platform claims that they were well aware that Katlego is a favourable presenter and TV personality however, after a two weak investigation and deliberation the odds were against him.
The GBV activist account thanked the awards platform for taking appropriate action following the allegations that came to light including the violation of muller’s protection order against him. Women For Change is determined to seek justice for all the women who have been unlawfully violated by men and especially those who are live in fear of speaking up or were never given the chance to.
