Akhonamathemba Mbele-Zwane, professionally known as Sweet Guluva, is celebrating another major milestone as the South African influencer and television personality lands a coveted spot on the cover of GQ South Africa’s September issue.
Sweet Guluva is featured as one of the cover stars of the highly anticipated September edition, following his recognition among the winners of the GQ Best Dressed Awards. His appearance on the magazine cover adds another impressive chapter to his growing profile in South African entertainment, fashion and popular culture.
He shares the cover with four other personalities who have also made their mark through their individual style and influence. The September issue brings together actor Thabang Molaba, Ruvesh Pillay, Nkuley Masemola, as well as content creator and model Lisa Madibe.
GQ South Africa explained the significance behind bringing the five personalities together, saying, “@sweet_guluva. This cover brings together five people proving that being named Best Dressed was never about one great night. It’s about what comes after it.
In this issue, our cover stars reflect on what style means to them, the choices that shape their personal identities and why great style is about far more than what you wear. From fashion and culture to confidence and individuality, these are the names continuing to push the conversation forward.”
For Sweet Guluva, the feature comes at an important point in his journey. Known for his distinctive personality and growing influence, he has continued to build his identity in the public eye, particularly following his rise after Big Brother Mzansi.
Speaking about his approach to fashion and personal style, Sweet Guluva says, “Being well dressed isn’t safe. Styling is a risk, and you can see the effort behind it.” Says
His appearance in the September issue reflects that very attitude. Rather than simply following trends, Sweet Guluva has become increasingly recognised for experimenting with his image and using fashion as another way to express his individuality.
GQ South Africa describes him as “One of the voices redefining style and individuality” and confirms that he is one of the magazine’s September issue cover stars.
“From his rise after Big Brother Mzansi to finding his own identity beyond the spotlight, he shares the story behind the image.”
With his GQ cover, Sweet Guluva is not only celebrating a fashion achievement but also showing how far his journey has taken him. From reality television to becoming a recognised name in fashion and entertainment, the September feature places him alongside some of the country’s notable creative and cultural voices.
