South African rapper and songwriter Cassper Nyovest recently opened up about marriage, love and the special bond he shares with his wife, Pulane Phoolo, during a radio interview on 94.7FM with Anele and The Club.
The rapper gave listeners a glimpse into his life as a married man and spoke openly about what has made marriage enjoyable for him. When radio host Anele Mgudlwa asked him what married life had been like and what had been so fun about being married, Cassper did not hold back.
“I’m married to a fun person, I almost said my girlfriend. My wife, who was my girlfriend is very hood, very Marftown, one of the reasons I feel in love with her. She’s very authentic, very Mafikeng, very funny. I enjoy being with her. She’s funnier than me. It’s just the two of us, we’ve built our own thing and I love her.”
His answer painted a picture of a relationship built on friendship, authenticity and plenty of laughter. Cassper Nyovest’s description of his wife also highlighted how much he values the person she is away from the spotlight.
But Anele then asked a question that appeared to catch the rapper off guard. Rather than asking about the usual highlights of marriage, she went deeper and asked Cassper Nyovest , “What scared you about not marrying her?”
Cassper Nyovest immediately acknowledged the question, saying, “That’s a good question, because I was scared that she wouldn’t want to marry me.”
The rapper then opened up about one of his biggest fears — losing the woman he had fallen deeply in love with. Cassper Nyovest said that he was afraid she could eventually end up with someone else.
“I was scared of losing her to someone else,” he said.
He further explained just how unusual and meaningful the connection was for him, saying, “I was just scared of losing her and I had never fallen in love that deep and I never connected with someone like that.”
The admission gives another glimpse into the emotional side of Cassper’s relationship with Pulane. Despite being one of South Africa’s most recognisable rappers, he described himself as someone who had genuine fears about whether the woman he loved would choose to spend her life with him.
Cassper Nyovest married his wife, Pulane Phoolo (Mojaki), in a traditional wedding ceremony in early April 2024. The couple were childhood friends before their relationship developed into something deeper.
Their family has since grown. Cassper Nyovest and his wife, Pulane, have a daughter together, who was born in December 2025. The rapper also has a son from his past relationship with Thobeka Majozi.
For Cassper, marriage appears to be about more than simply having a wife. His comments suggest that friendship, laughter, authenticity and a deep emotional connection are at the heart of what he has built with Pulane.
