Somizi Says Goodbye To Twitter. Social media is not for the faint hearted, especially on twitter. Getting dragged and cancel culture is an everyday thing and celebrities suffer the most when it comes to cyber bullying. Although some celebs like Pearl Thusi, Lamiez Holworthy and more have taken a stand against the victimization, some celebs are just not about the fight and are waving the white flag to serenader.
Veteran reality star and TV personality Somizi Mhlongo has also had his fair share of bullying on twitter and although he has held up a good fight, he thinks the time is right to step away. Somizi is currently living his best life in the big apple and has had plenty of time away from social media and its bullies. This has given him time to do some thinking and come to a realization that life without twitter is so much more peaceful.
Taking to his twitter, Somsom shared how at peace he has been without the app. He has narrowed the reasons on why that is down to two which is either he is very fragile or twitter users are just plain out vile. There is a bit of hope for those who know how to conduct themselves on the platform and Somizi is happy to connect outside of the platform but he is not about to subject himself any longer to this level of toxicity.
“Wooo hayi its been peaceful without this app…..i guess im either not strong or some ppl here are as toxic as fuck….to tjose that are kind u know where to find me….i love u but im too blessed for the toxicityher” he wrote.
Somizi followed up the tweet with an official goodbye to the platform saying that his last hiatus on the platform was too nice and he just want to go back to where the peace is.
“Eish my last tweet got posted before i finished …..all.im saying was….andizi apha shemmmm bekumnandi maan when i took a break bye love u” he wrote.
Somizi has gone through the most on social media just this year alone after the dirty laundry about his failed marriage to his estranged husband Mohale. The scandal also presented GBV allegations against the Idols SA judge which ultimately led to him loosing a lot of his gigs and he suffered the wrath of social media on account of the allegations. He was also recently banned from appearing at a gig in Zimbabwe because of his sexuality after The Council of Indigenous churches and the ZANU-PF youths released a statement on twitter.
