Sizwe Dhlomo Details His Side Of The Story On How An Exchange With Unathi At Kaya FNM Ended In Her Getting Fired. Last week, the streets of social media were in a frenzy following the axing of SA Idols judge Unathi by Kaya FM. It was confirmed that Unathi had been fired “effective immediately” from the station after a verbal conflict that Nkayi had with one of the station’s popular presenters and led to disciplinary action taken against her.
The tea has finally been spilt concerning the matter and it looks like things are more tricky than we thought. The Sunday World publication has revealed that the verbal altercation was between Unathi and Kaya FM presenter Sizwe Dhlomo. According to the publication, Unathi who presented Midday Joy on the station, complained that Dhlomo who hosts the slot after hers, arrived late for the handover of his show Afternoon Drive.
Nkayi allegedly complained that Sizwe’s late arrival made it difficult for her to do a full handover and introduce the highlight of the upcoming show. According to sources, Nkayi reported Dhlomo to authorities for “reputation damage”. The source also alleged that a heated argument between the two broke out following Nkayi’s accusations against Dhlomo’s late coming which affected her the handing over of the show.
Following the verbal altercation, Nkayi allegedly reported Dhlomo to human resources (HR) saying Dhlomo was aggressive and verbally abused her, using the F-word during their squabble, which left her feeling intimidated and that HR must act.
“She was crying and claimed that Sizwe was yelling and even told her to ‘f***ing leave’.” the source claims.
An unexpected turn of events happened after it was discovered that the studio microphones were on during the debacle and Unathi’s bullying claims were not validated by the evidence.
“But luckily for Sizwe, the microphones in the studio were on and had recorded their argument, and so he took that to HR. When they listened to the audio, they discovered that he did not verbally abuse her,” said the source.
The following day, Nkayi went back to HR to see to Dhlomo’s disciplinary claiming she was scared to be around him and threatened ton lawyer up on the station if it did not act against Sizwe. Unfortunately based on the recordings, HR ruled that the audio did not support Unathi’s version of events and her disciplinary hearing led to her dismissal.
Sizwe took to his twitter account to address the allegations, claiming that the reports are indeed true and the Sunday World’s version of events are all correct. Sizwe added that he was mostly worried that his reputation would be slandered if the events were twisted to make him look like the bad guy. Dhlomo has shared that he in no way feels bad for how things turned out because he did what he had to do.
“The entire situation is unfortunate but no, I don’t feel responsible in any way for it. I followed procedure & exercised my recourse” he wrote.
Unathi has yet to respond to the allegations but it looks like the people of twitter are happy that the microphone came through for Sizwe in this situation.
