Actress and media personality Simphiwe Ngema made a stylish appearance at the Nicci Winter Launch Preview, dressed in a striking hot pink ensemble. Speaking to IOL Entertainment, Ngema opened up about her life after welcoming her second child in December, her return to acting, and her future in music.
Ngema, who has been juggling multiple roles as an actress, businesswoman, and mother, shared how she manages her busy schedule.
“It’s a lot of work and I’m very lenient with myself,” she admitted. “I always tell myself that I do what I can, and on days where I wasn’t able to do everything, I forgive myself and say try again tomorrow.”
Despite the challenges, Ngema continues to shine in her career. In 2024, she appeared in the film “The Winning Ticket” and the short series “365 Days.” Alongside acting, she is also an influencer and one of the faces of Luvme Hair.
After taking a break from acting, Ngema is excited to be back on screen and hinted at exciting new projects. While she remains tight-lipped about details, she confirmed that there are “a few deals in the pipeline.”
Ngema has also embraced the world of influencing, which has become an important part of her career. She acknowledges that transitioning from acting to influencing came with its own learning curve.
“It’s been very interesting because I have learnt to evolve,” she explained. “I have learnt to look at what other people are doing and learn from them, especially the great influencers.”
She encourages fellow actors to embrace social media, as it has become a key tool for attracting brand collaborations.
Beyond acting and influencing, Ngema is a passionate musician who plays both the drums and the keyboard. She describes music as her “first love” and is eager to explore it further.
“Yes, you are going to see a bit more,” she revealed. “It’s going to be interesting because I want to do more than just stand and sing or dance. I want to incorporate things I normally do, like playing the keys, into more performances.”
Ngema first showcased her musical talents in 2019 when she released her debut single “Thola Khona.” She has since collaborated with Tino Chinyani, the father of her children, and Malawian award-winning Afro-pop singer Dan Lu.
