As the year comes to a close, many people reflect on their achievements and set new goals for the future. DRUM spoke to several showbiz stars to learn about their resolutions for the year ahead.
Seasoned musician and actor Brian Temba, who has always lived by the flow of life, shared that he no longer sets resolutions. “I used to have resolutions when I was younger, but I just feel life is what you make of it,” he says. “I’ve also discovered that we have a different calendar as Africans. When I did my research, it seems New Year’s for us should have been in September. So, I don’t make resolutions anymore. I take every day as it comes. My Bible says, we may make our own plans, but God has the last word. I stick to that.”
For award-winning rapper Priddy Ugly, the upcoming year is all about strengthening his spiritual journey. “My only New Year’s resolution for next year is to build my relationship with God. I’ve been lacking in that department, but I’m going to fix it next year,” he says.
Veteran actress Sophie Ndaba, known for her role in Generations, is focused on achieving the goals she didn’t complete in 2024. “My goal is to achieve the things I didn’t accomplish in 2024. It’s not so much about New Year’s resolutions, but more about that extra push I’m giving myself to achieve my goals,” she explains. “When I enter a new year, I already need to have my vision set on what’s ahead.”
It seems for many, the start of a new year is less about setting specific resolutions and more about staying true to personal growth and aspirations. Whether it’s spirituality, unfinished goals, or living in the moment, these stars are ready to make 2025 their year.
