Rapper Shebeshxt is speaking out after facing backlash over videos that showed him driving with alcohol in his car. The Limpopo-based rapper, who has been at the center of controversy, recently found himself under fire after the footage surfaced on social media, showing both him and his passengers drinking alcohol.

The controversy intensified following a tragic car accident on June 8, in which Shebeshxt was seriously injured, and his partner, Kholofelo Moloto, sustained moderate to severe injuries. The crash also claimed the life of their 9-year-old daughter. Some critics speculated that the accident could have been caused by Shebeshxt driving under the influence of alcohol, which added to the public outcry.

According to TshisaLIVE, in response to the criticism, Shebeshxt took to Facebook to address the rumours. “Botse Taba Yaore Ke Kreile Accident Ke Nwele Le Ekwele Mang? Leraore Nkebe Ke Nwele Nkabe Kele Free Or Nkabe Ke Swerwi? Nou Sio Brown Bottle Ye Le E Bonang Kua Videong Kele Ka Koloing Le Sure Gore Ebe Enwa Kenna? Le Busy Kanna Too Much, Lesa Cheki Maphelo Alena,” he wrote.

Loosely translated, he said, “Where did you get the news that I was under the influence when I was involved in a car accident? If I were drunk, would I still be free or would I have been arrested? Now you guys see a brown bottle with me in the car in a video, are you sure I was the one drinking it? You guys are too focused on me and are not checking your own lives.”
